Local Attractions

If the idea of an offsite day trip appeals you, there are a number of interesting and beautiful local attractions.

Ranked in the top 10 places in the nation to be during the total solar eclipse of April 2024. Russellville will be featuring special activities and events throughout the week, and NASA is planning to host part of the agency's live television broadcast from the city, as well as conduct several scientific presentations and public outreach events for visitors. ​​​Located in the Ozark National Forest and managed by the US Forestry Service. Big Piney Creek flows for 70.8 miles and runs through Pope, Johnson, and Newton counties. The distinctive scenery of Big Piney Creek is characterized by its sandstone bluffs, waterfalls, still pools, and stands of oak, hickory and pine. Arkansas' first state park, Petit Jean State Park is a natural and historic treasure with its beauty and ancient geology.  Get more information here.

  • Arkansas is home to more than 200 year-round waterfalls including:         

    • Cedar Falls (located in Petit Jean State Park): 38 miles

    • Haw Creek Falls (Hagerville, AR): 39 miles

    • Falling Water Falls (Richland Creek Wilderness Area, Ben Hur/Pelsor): 46 miles

This area is one of the most highly concentrated areas for waterfalls in the state. If you come in from Sand Gap, you’ll pass by the trail head for Kings Bluff Falls . As you drive down Falling Water Rd, you’ll pass right by the popular Falling Water Falls and Six Finger Falls. From Six Fingers you can hike to Fuzzy Butt Falls. And, just down the road from Six Fingers is the trail for Terry Keefe Falls.
